Don Bosco Maiyam Pallithammam was started in 1989. It is a premier institution working for the rural poor youth in Sivagangai District. It gives value education to the poor students of kalayar koil union. Many rural poor youth were educated in Don Bosco Pallithammam through ITI and Higher secondary school.
Activities
Parish: Youth groups, After School Coaching. School: Academic (Primary, Middle, Hr.Sec.), Aspirantate, Boarding, Professional: (Formal ITC) Orphanage, Computer Centre, Non Formal Technical School (Electrical Technician, Audio & Video Mechanic, Auto Electrician), CFCA, Job Placement Cell, Dispensary, Farm, Chaplaincies – FMA & SMA.

Lack of employable skills for the youth.
The Drop outs are on the increase in Pallithammam.
Most of the rural youth have no knowledge of the education and employment opportunities.
Poverty among the rural people in the area leads to child labor.

Through education we strive to have total literacy of the people of Pallithammam and form them in human and cultural values
Don Bosco ITI educates more than 100 rural poor youth in formal & non formal trades each year.
More than 650 students are given education at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School each year.

Creation of Job opportunities for the youth each year.
Rehabilitation of street youth in around the Pallithammam area.
Rural poor youth has to be given proper guidance in education and Job oriented courses.
