VISIONS
In order to realize the dream of Don Bosco, Anbu Illam strives to transform the lives of street and working children. We dream to create a child friendly society where child rights are respected, protected, promoted and young are given care and protection for their growth, development and participation so that they may lead their lives with human dignity.
MISSION
Don Bosco Anbu Illam is a catalyst organization that will increase the co-operation and collaboration of people’s organization and empower the community by making sure equal and standard education for all, create employment through vocational training, create awareness and sensitization about human rights, and make people take part in governance, through networking with NGOs and CBOs for the eradication of social discrimination among the people in order to create a just and equal society.
ACTIVITIES OF THE RECENT PAST (Three years)
Launching of the web site:
It is already three years that we launched the web site www.missingchildsearch.org in Salem. This was designed to trace the missing children and to prevent the child trafficking. Together with the police department we have formed the anti-trafficking committee and there is a better net work with missing cell in the police department.
Sangamam of the social workers
The social workers working in the different marginalized settings like Anbu Illams, Nest, Vembu and Tharangampadi gathered for two days of animation and orientation in Tiruchy. There were exchange of ideas and experiences. The best practices of the other centers motivated the staff to perform better and this live in experience has strengthened their commitment.
Children parliament
The children from the neighborhood of all our presences gathered for two days of training in Villathikulam. The children were oriented about the democratic systems and the participation of the children was encouraged by forming this children parliament. The evening class teachers were also oriented about the formation of these groups, selection procedure and the functions of different ministers.
