VISION

We would like to see the parishioners more religiously renewed and socially involved in our parish. They must be made aware of their vocation as lay people who articipate meaningfully in all the developmental activities in all spheres (religious, liturgical, biblical, catechetical, social, educational, economical, vocational and interpersonal). We want our parish to develop as a community that loves, proclaims, celebrates and is committed to its mission.

MISSION

We would like to see that in three years time all our youth receive all-round formation – religious, social, physical, educational, interpersonal – by making use of the groups and movements. We would help them to mature in their vocation as lay people. We will concentrate on correcting the youth who are victims of alcohol and drugs and initiate in them a process of purification and order.

HISTORY

Don Bosco (LOURDU SHRINE) at Madurai was started in 1975. It provides the youth receive all-round formation like religious, social, physical, educational, interpersonal – by making use of the groups and movements. It helps them to mature in their vocation as lay people, and concentrates on correcting the youth who are victims of alcohol and drugs and initiate in them a process of purification and order

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

Parish Details: Lourdes Shrine Parish consists of 1439 Catholic families with 7000 Catholics. There are 49 Anbiams, clustered under 6 zones. Parish has got regular animations and programmes. Salesians are available for the celebration of Sacraments and all the blessings. Regular Anbiam meetings and animations are conducted. Various pious associations (Legion of Mary, Vincent De Paul, ADMA Arunkodai iyakkam, Narcheithi kuzhu,  gather for their regular meetings and animations and are actively involved in the programmes of the parish. There are 700 Children attending the Sunday Catechism classes. There are 31 teachers teaching catechism for the students. The Altar children association is active with 30 members.
