Profile
SAREL was started in 2002 at Nettur. It believes in upholding the cause and dignity of the poor and the marginalized Dalits and work towards their total liberation freed from clutches of poverty and all indifferences and divisions. SAREL seeks to enhance and empower the rural Dalit people of Netter through its committed social action. SAREL animates facilities and strengthens the community, groups and local bodies to create a network leading to sustainable initiatives for the betterment of the society.
Activities
Parish, Youth groups, Primary Schools, Boys Home, Evening Study Centres, Women self-help groups,Men Self-Help Groups, Anbyams (BCC), Pious Associations, Awarness Creation Groups, Evening Study centres, Non-formal Vocational Training Centre and job placement cell at Tirunelveli.

We the Salesians of Don Bosco inspired by the preferential Option of Jesus Christ for the exploited and marginalized section of the society and guided by the love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, commit ourselves to the empowerment and total liberation of the rural dalit people of Nettur Parish especially the young by giving them a social status and economical upliftment to build a society with justice, peace, equality and love.

Fact Points
Lack of awareness among the people on social issues.
Low levels of literacy among women.

Intervention
Boys hostel for 100 poor boys.
The primary school gears up good education for the children, and the night study centre encourage weak students to score high marks.
Technical skills are imported to the students through the non formal technical training centre for 150 youth.
Training on two wheeler and four wheeler mechanism & Life coping skills.
EDP training, job acquiring skills, short term self employment training courses, Building up self help groups are conducted for 150 youth.
Providing social awareness program in 10 villages
The Need
Formation and building up of people groups.
Night study centers should be started and intensify its operations.
Comprehensive literacy program for the boys.
Enhancing technical skills for more number of students.
