10.  Lourdes Shrine – MADURAI LOURDES SHRINE

Vision

We would like to see the parishioners more religiously renewed and socially involved in our parish. They must be made aware of their vocation as lay people who articipate meaningfully in all the developmental activities in all spheres (religious, liturgical, biblical, catechetical, social, educational, economical, vocational and interpersonal). We want our parish to develop as a community that loves, proclaims, celebrates and is committed to its mission.

Mission

We would like to see that in three years time all our youth receive all-round formation – religious, social, physical, educational, interpersonal – by making use of the groups and movements. We would help them to mature in their vocation as lay people. We will concentrate on correcting the youth who are victims of alcohol and drugs and initiate in them a process of purification and order.

Activities

1. Academic education to rural population up to higher secondary level.
2. Career guidance to the outgoing students.
3. Evening study centre to improve the academic performance of the rural poor children.
4. Training the youth to be the agents of social change.

Don Bosco (LOURDU SHRINE) at Madurai was started in 1975.
