  • Youth Mela in the Province of Tiruchy

    Jan. 30. Nearly four hundred youth of Tiruchy Province gathered for the Youth Mela`16 on 26 January, at Don Bosco ITI, Madurai, to celebrate their youthfulness. The celebration was a blend of variety of programmes. The day started with meditation on `Handling Anger` guided by Father Lawrence SDB and followed by hoisting of National flag in celebration of India`s Republic Day. Fr. Santhanaraj SDB (Provincial Economer) welcomed the young to become agents of social transformation with their youthful contribution during his Republic day speech. The youth at large are becoming addicts to alcohol, not knowing its depressing consequences. ``Jananam``, (Don Bosco De-addiction Ministry) animated the young on the beauty of life and invited them to say ``NO`` to alcohol. A Book titled ``Vaazhkai Inithu`` was released during this session. The book is about education to youth on de-addiction. Fr. Albert Johnson SDB, Provincial, Salesian Province of Tiruchy, concelebrated the Holy Eucharist with all the Salesian Youth Service Coordinators.   • Certificate Course for the Anbiam Leaders

    Jan. 27. Sixty five animators of Small Christian Community (SCC) participated from three Dioceses. Amsam parish- Tiruchy Diocese, Manakkal parish- Kumbakonam Diocese and Madhakottai Parish- Tanjavur Diocese. Fifty animators of SCC were chosen for the Certification on 10 January at Madhakottai.   • Vembu Youth Federation, Vilathikulam

    Jan. 22. Vembu Youth Federation, Vilathikulam gathered on 10th January, 2016 to celebrate youth fest at Vilathikulam. There were about hundred youngsters from eight youth groups who celebrated the event with much enthusiasm that day. The day began with games for the youngsters at 10.00 am. After the party games, there was a break to relish pongal which led them to a seminar on New Education Policy of India by Mrs. Parvatha Varthini, a child right activist from Madurai.     Oct. 29. Child Line 1098 has been functioning for children in distress for the past 16 years in Coimbatore Don Bosco Anbu Illam. In the last six months, 30 children - victims of sexual abuse, child marriage, begging children and child labourers were rescued in Pollachi by Child Line and provided rehabilitation.
